If you are planning to dive in the Kerama Islands, staying for two days of diving allows you to experience two different styles of diving.
On the first day, we usually start with anchor diving, which is relaxed and ideal for getting familiar with the local environment. On the second day, once divers are comfortable with the conditions, we may introduce drift diving, offering a more dynamic experience.
This combination gives divers the opportunity to enjoy the full variety of Kerama’s underwater world.
Day 1: Relaxed Anchor Diving
Anchor diving is the most common style of diving in the Kerama Islands. The boat drops an anchor near the dive site, allowing divers to explore the reef at a comfortable pace.
This style of diving is perfect for the first day because:
- It allows divers to get familiar with local conditions
- Navigation is simple and relaxed
- The reefs are full of coral and colorful reef fish
Anchor dives are ideal for enjoying the beautiful coral landscapes and observing marine life without strong currents. It is also a great way to adjust after travel or flights.
Day 2: Experience Drift Diving
After the first day, divers are usually more comfortable with the sea conditions in Kerama. On the second day, if conditions allow, we may guide divers on a drift dive.
In drift diving, the boat follows the divers as they drift along the current. This allows you to cover larger areas and explore more dramatic underwater scenery.
Drift diving in Kerama can offer:
- Encounters with larger marine life
- Dynamic underwater landscapes
- The excitement of moving with the ocean current
While drift diving is still safe and guided, it is generally better suited for divers with some experience and comfort in the water.
Why Two Days of Diving is Recommended
Many visitors plan only one day of diving, but two days provide a much richer experience.
With two days you can:
- Experience different dive styles
- Visit a wider variety of dive sites
- Become more relaxed and confident in the water
The Kerama Islands offer incredible diversity, and multiple days allow you to fully appreciate what the area has to offer.
